Topeka City Manager’s Contract Approved

The Topeka City Manager will be around for another five years with a pay raise.
Tuesday night, the Topeka City Council voted to extend Jim Colson’s current two year contract with a salary increase of 2 percent.
Council members voted 6-to-3 to approve amendments on the current two-year contract and extend it.
The measure would bring his salary to a little more than $175,000 a year.
According to the Topeka Capital Journal, council members Karen Hiller, Sylvia Ortiz and John Campos voted against the contract – partly because the final contract was added to the meeting last minute.
They did say they were not opposed to keeping Colson on as city manager.
