Some First Graders at “Topeka Collegiate” celebrated “Kansas Day” a couple days early.
The students met some of the state’s living symbols Monday.
A box turtle and a tiger salamander were at the school for the students to check out, while the bison wasn’t represented in living form, there was a buffalo bladder on hand.
Wednesday marks the 153rd Anniversary of Kansas statehood. There will be a dedication ceremony in the first floor of the statehouse rotunda.
