The Topeka City Council voted to reinstate a domestic battery ban that was removed nearly three years ago.
Tuesday night, the council approved a November proposal to revise the 2013 uniform public offense code.
In 2011, the council removed a ban on domestic battery inside the city – to force Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor to continue prosecuting the cases.
Taylor had said budget restrictions would force his office to drop those cases otherwise.
The revised UPOC will take effect on January 1, 2015.
