A Topeka man will spend the next 50 years of his life behind bars for murdering two people over a span of 12 years.
A judge sentenced 40-year-old Monroe Lockhart III to two consecutive 25-year sentences Friday afternoon at the Shawnee County Courthouse.
Lockhart pleaded guilty last month to murdering 25-year-old Damon Anderson in 2000 and his former business partner, 39-year-old Corey Brown two years ago.
He is already serving a nearly 10 year sentence for a home invasion in which a woman was branded with a hot knife.
After serving 50 years, Lockhart will be eligible for parole.
