TOPEKA, Kan. – A statewide tornado safety drill is planned for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
Every school, citizen and business is encouraged to participate in the drill by practicing seeking secure, safe shelter as if this were a real warning. Gov. Sam Brownback has designated this week as “Severe Weather Awareness Week In Kansas” to urge Kansans to start planning for springtime weather-related emergencies.
According to the National Weather Service, Kansas had 56 tornadoes in 2013, including 15 in one day. Forty-five of them hit in May.
