Helping Hands Humane Society has selected Richard (Dick) Kline as the new Executive Director effective March 24, 2014.
“The staff and Board of Directors at the Helping Hands Humane Society are excited to welcome Dick Kline as our new Executive Director,” said Betty Lou Pardue, KTWU Major and Planned Gifts and President of the Helping Hands Humane Society Board of Directors. “Dick has extensive experience in 24/7 operations, community involvement and, in his own words, ‘serving the least, the lost and the lonely’.”
Kline retired from the Shawnee County Department of Corrections as Director in 2012 and has been working as a substitute teacher in the interim. He will be responsible for maintaining the day to day operations of the shelter. Kline said, “I am excited to be a part of this great organization. With the new facility, Helping Hands is growing with more programs, services and assistance it can provide to the community. Helping Hands has a team of professional staff and dedicated volunteers and I am looking forward to working with all of them.”
Kline is replacing Bill Acree who recently accepted a position with the Helping Hands Humane Society Foundation. Acree has been with the shelter for over 10 years and worked in the Executive Director role for the past 3 years. “I am anxious for Dick to get started as the new Executive Director at the shelter,” said Bill Acree. “I know that Dick and I will work well together in our new roles to continue to make Helping Hands Humane Society the very best Animal Resource Center for N.E. Kansas and I am very excited about all that lies ahead for the entire HHHS program; my heartfelt thanks to the HHHS Board of Directors and the staff for all of their support.”
The Foundation will maintain an office at the shelter where Acree will continue to provide tours and facilitate programs.
Helping Hands Humane Society, along with the Helping Hands Humane Society Foundation, will host a public open house at the shelter to welcome these gentlemen to their new roles in the near future.
