Hundreds of acres of land are charred this morning because a routine permit burn got out of hand Sunday.
Winds from the South pushed a dark smoke over Northeast Topeka. A barn more than 100 years old was destroyed when a brush fire got out of control according to Soldier Township Fire Fighters.
A similar situation South of Topeka near Auburn, where a brush fire charred more than 100 acres.
