El Paso man sentenced for Topeka woman’s death

The last of four defendants charged in the death of a 34-year-old Topeka woman will spend 12 years behind bars.

Twenty one year old Benjamin Anaya of El Paso, Texas was sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Early this month he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit felony first degree murder. Anaya and three other people were accused in the October 2012 death of Ashley Alcala.

According to the plea agreement with Anaya, the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office dismissed a charge of premeditated first degree murder.
