TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Changes to code enforcement was the topic of discussion at Tuesday’s Topeka City Council work session.
Kansas First News previously reported on the crumbling conditions of hundreds of Topeka properties.
The City Council heard clarifications concerning potential changes to the property code. Council members were shown photos of rundown properties in the city.
The group also learned about minor property fixes that can lead to long term solutions. Officials from the city’s Neighborhood relations were looking for some guidance to improve policies.
Captain Darin Scott with neighborhood relations says council members have requested more details. Members of the Neighborhood Task Force were also there to show support for changes to the ordinance.
