TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – One couple’s attempt at an off road adventure in Southern Shawnee County ended up with their pickup half way submerged in water.
It happened near 105th and Southwest Burlingame Road. The call originally came over as a possible water rescue at around 9 a.m. but when emergency responders arrived, they found the man and woman had successfully gotten out of the truck and got to safety.
The man told deputies he was driving along a muddy area on top of a hill and decided to go down the side of the hill. It wasn’t long after when the pickup started to slide down the embankment and into the water.
Deputies say the area is being prepared for a pond. The couple likely will be charged with trespassing.
