HIAWATHA, Kan. (KSNT) – Voters in Hiawatha have said no to a new movie theater development.
According to Many Signals Communications – a sales tax question on the ballot was defeated by more then 140 votes.
446 votes were cast against the proposal with 303 in favor.
The theater was estimated to cost nearly one point seven million dollars and have three screens with digital capabilities.
The owner of Arrow Theater in downtown Hiawatha says the doors will be closing in the near future due to the cost converting to a digital projection system.
