Event marks Child Abuse Prevention Month

Children stand on their county to signify a abused child

An event at the statehouse this morning aimed to bring attention to child abuse.

More than a hundred children were invited to the visitor’s center to represent their Kansas County at the 105 Reasons to Prevent Child Abuse in Kansas event.  About half of those invited were able to make it to the event.

Each child was picked by their county and stood on the Kansas map to show their county’s commitment to preventing child abuse in the state.  Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt was on hand for the event which kicks off Child Abuse Prevention Month.
