A Florida jury deadlocks in the murder trial of a Topeka native who is accused of running over and killing someone with his car.
According to the Florida Times-Union, a judge declared a mistrial after jurors couldn’t agree on a verdict for 35-year-old Adam Shepard.
Shepard, a former KU student and Topeka native, is accused of killing 33-year-old Spencer Schott in a 2011 hit and run in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
Schott was from Lawrence.
The Times-Union reports the two had become friends at a dog park and bonded over their love of KU.
Shepard will stay in jail until the next trial.
