Will First Lady visit Brown vs. Board during Topeka visit?

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – There’s no word on whether or not the First Lady has plans to visit the Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site during her visit to Topeka.

Park superintendent David Smith says it depends whether or not she is planning a high profile visit. Michelle Obama is the keynote speaker for Topeka Public Schools’ graduation. She will be in town to mark the 60th anniversary of the historic court ruling on school segregation. The ruling was handed down May 17, 1954. Smith said what was made clear is that the First Lady wanted to celebrate the occasion with students.

Smith said if Mrs. Obama is to visit the site, the historic site won’t likely be notified until 10 to 14 days before her visit.
