When President Barack Obama travels abroad, getting just the leader of the free world doesn?t seem to be enough. Countries want the first lady, too. But Michelle Obama won?t join her husband when he heads to Asia next week and her absence is likely to sting, especially in Japan. TOPEKA, Kan. –  Topeka Public Schools has released ticketing information for its commencement ceremony.

According to a press release, the district will give each graduate’s family at least six tickets, with the hope of making additional tickets available to families who need them.

Concerns arose after it was announced that First Lady Michelle Obama would speak at the ceremony. She is coming to Topeka to mark the 60th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court ruling that segregation in schools was unconstitutional.

USD 501 decided to combine commencement to include its three high schools, alternative learning center, and charter school. This caused concern for parents, who worried tickets would be limited.

Commencement will be held May 17, 2014 at the Kansas Expocentre.
