One man hospitalized in Sunday evening shooting

Shooting near Highway 24 and K-4


The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office says 69-year-old Robert Traphagen of Topeka was arrested Sunday night.

The whole thing started when two cars were headed east on Highway 24 when about a quarter mile before the K-4 west exit they collided.

Following the accident an argument between the two drivers began and one of them shot the other.

Forty-year-old Jason Harris was taken to a hospital with non life threatening injuries.


TOPEKA, Kan. – Around 6:30 Sunday evening, police responded to an accident involving two vehicles near Highway 24 and K-4.

Shawnee County Sheriff Herman Jones tells Kansas First News the cars were traveling eastbound along Highway 24 when about a quarter mile west of the K-4 West exit the two cars collided.

Following the accident an altercation between the drivers ensued in which one person was shot.

Jones said the victim is around 40-years-old. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
