A Topeka City Councilman was booked into the Shawnee County Corrections facility Tuesday night.
Jail records indicate John Campos, Jr. was booked into jail at 10:58 Tuesday night and released at 1:38 Wednesday morning.
Campos was charged Monday with two felonies: making a false writing and interference with law enforcement. He is accused of presenting a fake insurance card to the city’s legal department while trying to have a ticket from a traffic stop dismissed.
On Tuesday, the Shawnee County District Attorney filed paperwork seeking the ouster of Campos as councilman.
