If bond passed in Holton, taxpayers will pay less for new school

If the bond issue for a new Holton Elementary School passes May 6, 2014, USD 336 taxpayers won’t have to foot as much of the bill.

That’s because Governor Sam Brownback signed the controversial education funding bill into law. The holton recorder reports the state will cover 55 percent of construction costs for the new elementary, according to superintendent Nancy Meyer.

The project costs 21.5 million dollars.

Holton taxpayers only need to cover 9.675 million dollars of that cost over a 20 year period.
