Fund raiser for girl with Tay-Sachs disease

BURLINGAME, Kan. – An elementary school in Osage County is raising money for a young girl with a fatal medical disease.

Burlingame Elementary School’s National Honors Society is holing the fund raiser at their local Casey’s.

They will pump gas and wash car windows for donations from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

Sophia Grace Rhoads is the daughter of Alex and Emily Rhoads.

Sophia is diagnosed with Tay-Sachs disease. The disease attacks the nerves in the spine and brain.

Tay-Sachs disease is fatal. Sophia is only expected to live 3 to 5 years.
