Centennial League Tennis Recap

TOPEKA, Kan. – Hayden Wildcat tennis players, and brothers, Tommy and Blake Hunter met in the finals of the Centennial League meet at the Kossover Tennis Center on Monday afternoon.

Younger brother Tommy (sophomore) improved his career record against his older brother Blake (junior) to 3-1. Tommy won the championship match 8-4.

The Washburn Rural Junior Blues team of Matt Murray and Nathan Osborn captured the doubles title by holding off the Manhattan Indians 8-6.

The Hayden Wildcats win the team title 76-74 over Washburn Rural. It snaps the Junior Blues 18-year-long championship streak. It’s also the first time Hayden as won the Centennial League title since 1971.

Regional tennis begins this weekend. 6A is in Wichita, 5A is in Topeka, 4A is in Winfield, and 3-2-1A is in Goddard.
