Votes cast for two area bond issues

Holton USD 336 voters said “Yes” to a school bond issue to build a new elementary school.

The 21.5 million dollar bond passed 934 to 756. It will pay to replace both Colorado and Central elementary schools. The state will reimburse the district for 55 percent of construction costs leaving taxpayers to pay for the rest.

Meanwhile, Osage county voters said “No” to a more than 12 million dollar bond issue for the Lyndon school district. The issue failed by more than 400 votes. 198 voters said yes with 615 against. The proposed project would have included new classrooms, a laboratory, an all school library, and a storm shelter.
