Children’s Mental Health Conference Scheduled for Friday in Topeka

TOPEKA – The Governor’s Behavioral Health Services Planning Council and the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation will conduct a day-long children’s mental health conference Friday, May 9, 2014.

Laura K. Howard, Region 7 Administrator for the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SMHSA), will give a presentation on children’s mental health from the federal prospective, followed by a panel discussion on “What Schools Need to Make Education Work for Youth with Serious Emotional, Behavior Problems” with participating educators from across the state.

The conference will be held at the KPERS Building, 611 Kansas Avenue, Suite 300 from 9am. to  3p.m..
