FORT RILEY, Kan. (KSNT) – The Kansas National Guard is upgrading its war weapons, 15 new tanks were rolled out at Fort Riley Wednesday.
They are a newer model with an upgraded engine, fire control system and optics.
Soldiers will begin training with the new tanks on June 1st.
Kansas National Guard officials say it will help them train.
“It’s quite a big deal for us to get selected,” says Major Robert Sands. “We’re one of the few independent battalions in the National Guard Formation.”
They expect to receive 14 more tanks this September.
