Motorcyclist dies in accident in Jefferson County

A man has died from his injuries following an accident in Jefferson County Saturday night.

Kansas Highway Patrol says 47-year-old Todd Stevenson, of Missouri, died after being taken to a local hospital. Officials say Stevenson was driving a motorcycle Saturday evening on U.S. 24 when he tried to pass on a curve and hit a group of motorcyclists.

Stevenson was flown to a Topeka Hospital, where he later died.

Stevenson was not wearing a helmet.


Two people are seriously injured after a multiple motorcycle crash Saturday night.

Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 5:30 on Highway 24 in Jefferson County, just east of Perry. One of the motorcyclists was heading westbound and lost control of the bike and it crashed into another group of motorcycles heading eastbound. Two riders were flown to area hospitals. Officials have not released the names of those involved.
