TOPEKA – Area high schools competed in the Centennial League track and field meet at Hummer Sports Park on Thursday.

Washburn Rural leads after a couple of baton exchanges in the boys 4×800 meter relay.Junction City dominated the girls race.

The Junior Blues end up trailing Manhattan just before the anchor leg but Rural’s Thomas LaRoche comes back to edge Manhattan’s Chris Martin down the stretch. Rural won by a second.

There were some close finishes in the hurdles races as well.

It’s a one-two finish for the Lady Spartans of Emporia. Jordyn Harmon took first, followed by Keiona doctor in second.

110 boys hurdles goes in favor of Topeka High’s Khalil Austin. He clocked in at 14.57 seconds to beat Malik Livingston from Emporia.

The Lady Trojans captured first in the 100 meter dash. Raianna Maples, a Wichita State signee, finished ahead of the pack.

Seaman’s Joe Reagan wins the boys 100 at 10.95. He also won the 200 meter race and long jump as well.

Manhattan swept the team titles for boys and girls.
