High school boys state tennis recap

TOPEKA, Kan. – In class 5A, Seaman senior Todd Rilinger lost in the state championship match to Arkansas City’s Berett Hollis 6-1, 5-7, 6-3. As a team, the Vikings captured 3rd overall.

In class 4A, Hayden sophomore Tommy Hunter knocked off his older brother, junior Blake Hunter, 6-2, 7-5 to win his second-consecutive state championship. The Hayden Wildcats also won the state championship as a team. Their first since 2005.

Other area notables (singles):

Topeka West – Nico Gomez finishes 11th (5A).

Emporia – Logan Caden finishes 8th (5A).

Marysville – Tanner Wright finishes 4th (3-2-1A).
