Emergency crews in Manhattan are practicing for a disaster.
The Manhattan Fire Department along with the Kansas National Guard did a mock drill today.
It focused on a fake chemical spill on the K-State campus.
The team was tested on how fast they could respond to the disaster and clean it up.
Crews say it’s good practice to be ready for a potential chemical, biological, radio active, nuclear, or even explosive situation.
“It’s great training for our guys to actually work through those scenarios and get the suits out and use the equipment,” Battalion Chief of Training Mark Whitehair said.
Wednesday will be the last day of training.
