Ghost Bike Commemoration

Ghost Bike Commemoration

The Kaw Valley Bicycling Club commemorated the death of one of their own today.

In honor of Neil Douglas Rogers, who died almost 25 years ago, you’ll see a white bike in front of the Cypress Ridge Golf Course.

It’s called a ghost bike.

Which symbolizes as a memorial for a cyclist who was struck or killed on the street.

Neil’s son says what the club has done is very emotional for him.

“But it feels really good cause there is a community still moving along with bicycling and having people be aware of bicyclers on the road is what my dad was all about,” Neil’s son Flint Rogers said.

To continue to honor Neil there will be a Ride of Silence starting tonight at 7p.m.

The ride will begin and end in the parking lot west of KTWU at Washburn University.
