Topeka Police have identified the victim from Sunday’s shooting as 42-year-old Tiffany Davenport from Wichita.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports a 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder had his bond set at $1 million during a court appearance Tuesday. Police said earlier that officers who responded to the shooting also found a traffic accident had occurred.
A friend of the victim told the Capital-Journal that Davenport-Ray had lived in Wichita for the past 10 years working at Beechcraft and had just returned to Topeka for her wedding Saturday.
Davenport died after a shooting in Topeka Sunday morning.
According to Topeka Police, a gunshot victim was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon at about 3:15 p.m. The Topeka Police Department arrested 30-year-old Awnterio D. Lowery for first degree felony murder.
Early Sunday morning, officers were called to 19th and Kansas Avenue at about 1:40 a.m. Officers are still investigating what happened, but say Davenport was taken to an area hospital with life threatening injuries, where she later died.
