Two World War II veterans, who served together in Guam in 1945, reunited thanks to a stranger, his goddaughter and a picture.
This story of fate began at a Naples restaurant where Tom Bossone has breakfast every Sunday.
One Sunday, Naples residents Bob Biagioni and his wife noticed Bossone was eating alone, so they invited him to join them.
“We kept coming in and seeing him all alone, and it looked so sad,” said Biagioni.
Although Tom was hesitant, he agreed to join the couple, and it soon became a tradition to eat breakfast together every week.
One Sunday, Biagioni’s goddaughter and her friend, visiting from New York, listened to Bossone’s stories of his service in Guam in 1945. Biagioni’s goddaughter’s friend, Dina, mentioned her grandfather also served in Guam.
Bossone gave Dina a photograph and she took it back to New York with her and showed it to her grandfather.
