Concerts begin at Garfield Park

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Summer concert season in North Topeka begins June 2.

The North Community Band will kick off the summer concert season with a performance at Garfield Park (1600 N. Quincy St.) starting at 7:30 p.m.

They will perform two other times this summer on June 30 and July 14.

The Kansas Army National Guard 35th Infantry Division Band will perform on June 16.

All concerts start at 7:30 p.m.

Gary Slimmer works with the North Topeka on the Move Association, which organizes the concerts.

He encourages patrons to bring their own chairs and partake in the concessions available at Garfield Park.

Slimmer says concessions include refreshments, pie, cake, hot dogs, hamburgers and more.

They will also show an outdoor movie after the concert on June 30.

Patrons can eat popcorn and watch “Saving Mr. Banks” on the outdoor big screen.
