The Topeka Police Department has arrested one person in connection to a homicide in Topeka Saturday. Police say they have arrested 24-year-old Jourdan M. Hunt of Topeka in connection to the shooting yesterday. Police have also released the identity of the shooting victim yesterday as 20-year-old Germaul L Rayton. According to police, both the victim and the suspect were known to each other.
The Topeka Police Department says they were assisted by the Lawrence Police Dept executed a search warrant in Lawrence, Kansas, near 27th and Louisiana. This search warrant is related to yesterday’s homicide at 1400 SE Locust. Police are no longer looking for the red SUV; it was located in Lawrence.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A 24-year-old Topeka man is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday in connection with a shooting that left one man dead and two others injured.
Shawnee County officials say the suspect was booked into jail Sunday evening facing counts of first-degree murder and aggravated battery.
The victim of the shooting Saturday in Freedom Valley Park has been identified as 20-year-old Germaul Rayton of Topeka. Police say the victim and suspect knew each other. The two survivors were treated and released Saturday.
Saturday’s homicide was the second in Topeka this year.

According to Topeka police, one man is dead and two others were injured after a shooting at Freedom Valley Park Saturday afternoon.
Police say at about 4:10, officers were called to the 1400 block of SE Locust to a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found no one at the scene.
Before officers arrived to Freedom Valley Park, officers learned that three people had been taken by personal vehicles to a local hospital. Other officers got to the hospital at the same time as the victims. Three people were injured. Two Topeka men, 18-years-old and 21-years-old, were treated and released. A third Topeka man, 20 years old was pronounced dead at the hospital. Topeka police is not releasing the identity until the family is notified.
Police are looking for a suspect described as a black male in a red SUV with tinted windows.
The Topeka Police Department has activated the Walk-In Accident Reporting Phase at about 5:50 due to the high call load.
