City seeks community input on police chief search

City Manager Jim Colson is seeking input from residents on what they expect from the next Topeka Police Chief. According to a news release from the City of Topeka, Topeka residents are invited to a public meeting, from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, June 9th, in the Holliday Conference Room, 620 SE Madison.

The City’s goal of this meeting is to establish community priorities for this position.  Colson will update the public on the search process and timeline at the meeting.

President Barack Obama has nominated current Topeka Police Chief Ronald Miller to serve as U.S. Marshal for Kansas.  Miller was sworn in as Chief of the Topeka Police Department in September 2006.

Those who cannot attend this meeting can participate in a public engagement poll to be released online.  Those not able to participate can call the City Manager’s Office with comments, (785) 368-3725.
