Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) raises funds for childhood cancer research. Kansas City regional area’s support has been recognized by the national ALSF as one of the largest efforts in the country.
ALSF emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra Scott(1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. To date, ALSF has raised more than $80 million, and funded over 450 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.
Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Gordon and his wife Jamie will be visiting the Prairie Village Hy-Vee on Friday , June 6 from 11a.m. to noon. Gordon has been a dedicated supporter of ALSF for the past nine years .
Gordon donates his time each year to help spread awareness of ALSF and raise funds for childhood cancer research, including staring in numerous PSAs and appearing at events.
