TOPEKA,Kan.(June 4,2014)- Friday, June 6, TARC hosted the official send-off celebration for the Topeka and Shawnee County Special Olympians. The 2014 Summer Games will be held in Wichita June 6-8.
The 2014 send-off honored Mr. Marshall Blosser, long time supporter and former member of the TARC Board of Directors. Special activities began at 8 a.m. at the TARC Administrative offices, located at 2701 SW Randolf Avenue. The community was encouraged to attend and show support for these dedicated athletes.
Highlights of the event included appearances by Kansas First News anchor Nate Hill, The Topeka High drum line, members of the Kansas Kyotes football team, members of the Topeka Golden Giants baseball team, several local mascots and special friends from Frito Lay. The Topeka Police Department and the Topeka Fire Department also participated and assisted with the celebration and send-off.
TARC is a not-for-profit service organization that works to enhance the lives of people with developmental and related disabilities and their families, with service, support, advocacy, and community involvement.
