(WIS) A South Carolina man is in custody after leading deputies on a dangerous high speed chase and causing a three-vehicle accident; all while three children in car seats were in his vehicle.
Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews says the Wednesday afternoon pursuit reached speeds of up to 110 miles per hour.
It started when a patrolling deputy attempted to stop a late model Chevrolet Impala driving 92 miles per hour.
Suspect Darius Pollard then drove away, passing vehicles in the emergency lane and in the grassy median, according to Matthews. On his last attempt to pass a vehicle in the median, he lost control of the vehicle and caused a pickup truck to collide with a tractor-trailer.
Deputies quickly arrived on the scene and discovered an infant, a 2-year-old child and a 3-year-old child, all in car seats in the back seat of the vehicle.
