Topeka woman killed in Jackson County accident

HOLTON, Kan. (KSNT) The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an injury accident involving a horse around 9:30 Thursday evening just north of 256th and U.S. Highway 75 north of Holton.

A sound bound 2008 Chevy Trailblazer struck a horse just north of 246th Road. The driver was not injured. The horse had been in the roadway and went over the top of the Trailblazer. It is believed the horse or part of it went through the windshield. The horse was dead.

The passenger of the vehicle, 58 year old Vicki Barbara of Topeka was transported to Stormonth Vail Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A second southbound vehicle, 2006 Buick passenger car also struck the horse and was not injured.
