Juneteenth celebration commemorates abolition of slavery


One Topeka woman brought Juneteenth to the capitol city this year.It’s the first time people across the city celebrated the family and friends Juneteenth celebration,a holiday that commemorates the abolition of slavery.As part of the festival, there was live music, local vendors, and volunteers were serving up food. The most important part of the celebration focused on the historical aspects of Juneteenth.

Norma Avrery decided to make the Juneteenth celebration something special in Topeka again.
