WESTMORELAND, Kan. (KSNT) – The Pottawatomie County treasurer has mailed the 2013 2nd half delinquent notices to taxpayers. The office sent out 1095 Delinquent Real Estate notices and 306 Delinquent Personal Property notices which is slightly lower than last year leaving the delinquent amount at 1.5% for the year. Treasurer Lisa Wright is in the process of completing budget estimates for the taxing entities and will have them out this week.
The Pottawatomie County Tax sale is Friday June 20th at 10:00am in the upstairs courtroom of the old courthouse. There are currently 12 parcels that are up for sale and you can find those details on the front page of the county’s website at www.pottcounty.org.
The treasurer’s office will soon be issuing commercial vehicle tags. They have received the motor carrier plates and credit card procedures for issuing commercial vehicle tags. Wright will be attending a meeting hosted by Geary County on June 25th to go over concerns, procedures and questions, and the State will be onsite to answer those questions.
Blue Township has asked that the treasurer look into putting an Annex Office in the Green Valley Community Building. Wright has discussed rent, utilities, janitorial and upkeep of the space they could provide, and she did an estimate of cost of utilities, office equipment, secure internet installation and staff wages and benefits. There are concerns of placement of an annex and cost effectiveness since Pottawatomie County offers options like: in person, mail, online renewals, payments by phone, drop box, title estimates via phone/fax to be finished by mail. State employees with http://www.kansas.gov will be coming in October to help with the online tax payment option to further open another payment option.
