Des Moines, IA (KSNT) – The latest national drought report shows continuing rains across the mid-west are benefiting Kansas soil.

The latest information from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows that more and more areas in northeast Kansas are improving, climbing to the moderate category this week from severe last week.

The south central part of the state is sowing the most improvement, climbing out of the extreme category to severe or even moderate.

The hardest hit areas continue to be the southwest and northwest portions of the state – both are still in the extreme drought category.
