UPDATE: Search crews given all clear in Holton

UPDATE – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office gave the all clear to search crews at about 4:30 Sunday afternoon.

Jackson County Emergency Management has confirmed that there are boats on Banner Creek Reservoir searching for someone who possibly drowned. They are unsure if there actually was a drowning, but they are searching. Jackson County dispatch could not confirm anything yet, but did say they are searching on the north side of Banner Creek Reservoir.

Jackson County Sheriff, Tim Morse released this press release at 2:30 Sunday afternoon: “At approximately 1 pm today the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Banner Reservoir west of Holton after receiving a report of a swimmer possibly in distress.  The Holton Fire Department and Kansas Dept of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism also responded to the Reservoir.  As of this time the report has not been confirmed. Everyone at the lake has been accounted for and no one is reported missing. We will keep you notified of any updates.”

A Kansas First News team is on their way to Holton to get more information. We will keep you updated as it becomes available.
