WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Congressman Mike Pompeo has picked his chief of staff to manage his run for re-election in his south-central Kansas district.
Pompeo announced Tuesday that Jim Richardson would take a leave of absence from his congressional position to manage the Republican incumbent’s campaign for a third term in the 4th Congressional District.
Pompeo also noted that Richardson worked for six years for former congressman Todd Tiahrt before joining Pompeo’s congressional staff after the 2010 election.
Tiahrt is challenging Pompeo in the Aug. 5 Republican primary. Tiahrt held the 4th District seat for 16 years before giving it up in 2010 for an unsuccessful campaign for U.S. Senate.
