TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) A popular program that helps the homeless get back on their feet will come to an end on Monday.
Graduation was held for the last time Thursday for the Topeka Moving Ahead Program.
Kansas Legal Services played a big part in the training program which has helped more than 800 homeless individuals find work and housing since it started 11 years ago.
A major reduction in federal funding brought a halt the the program.
Program directors say TMAP’s impact will continue even without the program.
“We move forward with all the skills that we have learned and that we have taught our students, said TMAP Director Lea Vincent. That’s what we’ve been telling them this last week, you know how to do this, you know what to do.”
The program directors say that they will continue to look at other funding.
They’d need about $200 a year to continue.
