Kansas voter registration laws to be reevaluated

The ACLU wants a Shawnee County judge to stop implementation of Kansas’ new voter registration law before the August primary. The civil rights group says secretary of state Kris Kobach’s new system sets up a two-tier voting system, by allowing some residents to make choices on a full primary election ballot, but only congressional races will count.

Under the new law a state registration form requires proof of citizenship, while a national registration form does not.
