GRANDVIEW, Mo. (AP) — Juvenile authorities have charged two young teenagers in connection with the shooting death of a 41-year-old man who witnesses said was urging one suspect to give up a gun.
The shooting Monday night in the Kansas City suburb of Grandview killed Gregory Moody, a married father of four.
The Jackson County juvenile officer on Wednesday charged a 14-year-old boy with second-degree murder and assault. A 13-year-old boy was charged with four counts of assault.
WDAF-TV reports the incident began when someone fired a shot through the wall of a Grandview home. Witnesses said Moody approached the teens in a parking lot about an hour later and tried to persuade the 14-year-old to hand over the gun.
Instead, the witnesses told police, the boy shot Moody in the chest.
