COLBY, Kan. (AP) — A Garden City man has pleaded guilty to first-degree premeditated murder in the stabbing death of a Colby woman.
The Kansas attorney general’s office announced that 25-year-old William Andrew Shank also pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated arson and aggravated burglary in the February 2013 death of 27-year-old Teri Morris in Colby. He will be sentenced Sept. 10.
Firefighters found Morris gravely wounded when they arrived at her home.
A coroner said Morris, an emergency medical technician, had been stabbed more than 25 times. Prosecutors say Shank and Morris were contesting custody of their infant daughter. The girl was found safe with Shank when he was arrested in Phillips County.
