Manhattan man shot himself

MANHATTAN, Kan. (KSNT) – The Riley County Police Department reported Wednesday that 24 year old Gerald Lucking of Manhattan became the victim of battery on July 1st at 2:15 p.m. after being shot with a pellet/BB gun in the foot near the intersection of N. Juliette Ave and Laramie Street.

Police were then looking for information on a darker color early 2000’s SUV with several passengers who may have perpetrated the crime. Injuries sustained were not severe but the victim did seek medical treatment. On July 2nd at 2:40 p.m., after further investigation into the matter, police were able to ascertain what actually happened during the time of injury.

Police then arrested Gerald Lucking for interference with law enforcement after RCPD found that he had shot himself in the foot. He contacted police in order to stay out of trouble while on parole. He was issued a bond of $2,000 and is currently confined at the Riley County Jail.
