Los Angeles (KSNT) – Civil Right activists are calling for a federal investigation after cell phone video caught a California Highway Patrol officer beating a woman alongside a southern California freeway.
The video shows the officer straddling a woman lying on the ground and punching her in the head, repeatedly, on a Los Angeles freeway.
CHP Assistant Chief Chris O’Quinn said at a news conference Friday the officer was trying to restrain a woman who’d been walking on Interstate 10, endangering herself and people in traffic.
However, passing driver David Diaz recorded the Tuesday incident, provided it to local televisions and then civil rights activists began demanding the probe.
Here’s a report from our sister station KNBC in Los Angeles. What do you think?
