According to The Topeka Capital Journal, Paradise of Flavor has opened a second location, featuring some very unique flavors.
Owner Kim Cervantes said the new location , at 2501 S.E. California, has flavors you don’t often see in shaved ice booths in the United States, including spicy pineapple, tamarind, and chamoy. Tamarind is a popular fruit in Mexico, Africa and India, and has a combination of sweet and sour tastes. Chamoy is a sauce made from fruit paste and spices.
The store already had a location at 1801 S.W. Wannamaker, Cervantes said. Both locations sell 100 shaved ice flavors that are more traditional, though the Wannamaker location doesn’t have the spicy flavors, she said.
Both locations also have started selling 10 flavors of respados, a Mexican-style shaved ice product that mixes real fresh fruit with a water or milk base.
The Wannamaker location is open noon to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The California location is open 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
