TOPEKA (KSNT) – The two suspects arrested for aggravated burglary and aggravated kidnapping have been identified as 24-year-old Hector Munoz of Topeka and 19-year-old Christopher Miller of Topeka.
At 4:41 Monday morning, Shawnee County Emergency Communication Center (SCECC) received a 911 call from 2065 SW Lane saying someone may be breaking into the home, then they lost contact.
SCECC called back and were told it was a child playing with the phone and everything was fine. At 4:49 a.m. the first officer on scene had subjects running out of the front door. Three minutes later the victim called and stated a subject had forced his way into the house, armed with a shotgun along with another suspect who had a handgun. Five minutes afterward, one of the two suspects was taken into custody and a couple minutes later the second suspect was taken into custody in front of 2052 SW Buchanan along with property stolen from the victim.
Both Munoz and Miller were taken to the Law Enforcement Center. The house at 2052 SW Buchanan was surrounded, officers could see someone looking out of the window but they refused to come to the door. The response team was called back along with negotiators. At 8:54 a.m. everyone came out of the house and the house was cleared. The house is currently being guarded by two patrol officers awaiting a search warrant.
Several people that came out of the house on Buchanan were interviewed and released. This investigation continues and more arrests are possible in the future.
